Paint Shop Pro v7 » Winged horse

To insert wings on a horse we need two pictures; one of a horse and one of a bird taken from the same angle. The bird should also have a color close to the horse's color. I've seen many pictures where the wings are placed to far behind or low. Let's have a look at a horse's skeleton; the wing would grow out of the shoulder bone, in the red circle:

Now, I'll use this wing:

You can use this to practise with, as wing pictures are hard to find. I search for bird + wing, or eagle + wing or eagle + flying or similar. On google.com. I'll use this horse picture:

As you can see, the wing can be inserted in a natural angle. I then copy paste the bird to the horse picture as a new layer, and cut the background off.

As you can see it doesn't look very natural, so I'll soften the end of the wing a bit, and use the smudge tool to smudge a bit in. Then I made the wing a bit redder by choosing, in the "color" tool in the top tool bar, then "adjust" and "color balance". I turned up the red a notch. Other than that, the color matched very well. If the color is very different, play with the hue and color balance. It is pretty difficult to blend the wings in on a horse, because it doesn't have any fur to blend with feathers in the wings. But keep practising. I know I need to haha. My result:
