Paint Shop Pro v7 » Smudging

Perhaps your cutting isn’t the best (it DOES take a bit of practice) or the horse tail looks silly. Then the smudge tool may come in handy. I’ll use this picture here, and your can see her neck is weird and the tail is to straight cut of.

Choose the tool that looks like a white hand in the left tool bar. If you can’t see the left tool bar, click on view in the top tool bar and choose “toolbars”. Check the box for “tool options palette”. Now, in the tool option box (click the letter O on your key board if you can’t see it) choose the middle button called “retouch options” and choose Smudge as retouch mode:

Choose the left button and set the settings similar to mine:

Now, you can push and drag the mouse pointer a bit along the edges of the horse:

You have to choose what looks good. Try it out a bit on your own :) For the tail, you can use the smudge tool to “pull out” some hairs. To do this, I changed the tool size to 5:

To soften up the tail a bit you can use the eraser brush – big size and low hardness. Result:
