Paint Shop Pro v7 » Rainbow effect
I’ll use this image:

Now, in the right toolbar, click on the little arrow on the color square (blue circle) then the tool next to the one who looks like a paint brush (red circle):

Now, click inside the color:

And you’ll get this toolbox up, click on the “Edit” button

Then you’ll get another tool box up, click on the “New” button:

Choose a name for your gradient. I’ve chosen “Rainbow”.

The rainbow colors are:
- Red
- Orange
- Green
- Blue
- Indigo
- Purple
So start with the red. You have a little box up already (red circle). Click inside the color box (blue circle) and choose what color you want.

Then click below the horizontal bar, so you get another little box up. Do the same; click inside the color box and choose the next color. Do the same with all the others:

Where it says “click here” on the pic, is where you should click when you want a new little box.
Now, we can colorize the pic with our new rainbow gradient. Make a new raster layer:

And colorize the layer with the gradient by using a big paint brush. It is now filled with rainbow colors
So open the layer palette (if you can’t see it, click the letter L on your key board) and reduce the opacity from 100% to something you think looks nice.

Result:

If you want the rainbow gradient to go vertically, you can rotate it by setting the angle to 90:
