Paint Shop Pro v7 » Installing fonts

It's a good idea to download and install some new fonts. So use Google and search for free fonts. You will get tons of hits, so just choose a site, and download the fonts you think are cool.

This is the only thing here, that can't be done from PSP, as this is not psp-related but computer related (So don't go looking for "install fonts" in psp, because those fonts have nothing to do with psp :P ). When you have installed the fonts, you can not only use them in psp, but also in MS Words, MS Paint, and all other programs you have on your computer. I'll explain how to install fonts on a Windows computer (I don't know how to do it in other operating systems or on MACs...).

Click on the "download" button that belongs to the font you want to keep.

Save it in a folder you can locate later on (create a folder in "My documents" called "My fonts" for example).

To install them (in windows) go to the control panel. Here is a pic of my own Start menu:

Choose
then File and "install new font".

Locate the folder you put the new fonts in, and choose OK.

Most fonts are stored in a compressed form called a .zip file. In this form they are much smaller than their normal storage format so it takes less time for you download them. You can't use the files until you restore them to their full size. Think of it as a suit case. You can't use any of the clotes in there, before you open it, and pull the stuff out. On newer computers you don't need a program to unzip them. Simply right click on the zip file, and choose "extract here". Now your files would be unzipped.

On older computers you need a program called winzip. Download a free demo version from www.winzip.com. They have tutorials about how to do this if you need help.
